Qatari and Turkish companies ready to take over Afghan airfields

Turkish and Qatari private airlines have agreed to concertedly operate five airfields in Afghanistan, but are awaiting a final agreement with the Taliban.

According to the French news agency AFP, the Turkish Foreign Minister said on Monday that an agreement had been inked in Doha before this month for airfields in Kabul and four other metropolises.

The Turkish Foreign Minister said that the United Arab Emirates has also expressed interest in working with Qatari and Turkish companies.

He said that the issue was also bandied with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi during his visit to Ankara. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi has said that he may be a part of it, but no final decision has been made yet.

Qatari and Turkish officers didn't unfold on the deal.

"No agreement has been inked yet,"Afghan Civil Aviation spokesperson Imamuddin Ahmadi said on Tuesday.

It should be noted that the Taliban had before rejected Turkey's offer for security at Kabul airfields.
