 Murree Heavy snowfall kills at least 16 excursionists, closes all roads to Murree, Govt process FC and Rangers 


 Pakistan's Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has said that at least 16 excursionists trapped in vehicles have failed as a result of heavy snowfall in Murree, a resort in Punjab fiefdom. 


 According to Sheikh Rashid, a thousand vehicles are still stuck on the road to Murree and the help of FC, Rangers and Army help has been enlisted for the deliverance operations. 

 

 In a videotape statement, he said that so far 16 to 19 people have been verified dead who were trapped in their vehicles. 

 

 The Home Minister didn't give farther details about the victims but said that sweats were being made to void the remaining people stranded on the road. Snow exigency was declared in Murree by the Punjab government. 


 

 Sheikh Rashid said that the roads leading to Murree from Islamabad and other areas have been closed and only vehicles carrying food and relief particulars are being allowed to enter. 

 

 The Home Minister expressed stopgap that by Saturday evening Murree and the vehicles and persons stuck in its path would be vacated but according to him the roads leading to Murree would remain unrestricted till 9 pm on Sunday. 

 

 According to Meteorological Department officers, further than four bases of snow has fallen in Murree so far and according to locals, utmost of the deaths passed in the area between Sindhi and Kaldona where dozens of vehicles were stuck in the snow on the way to Murree. 

 

 Status of relief conditioning 



According to Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry, Murree Expressway has been cleared and hundreds of vehicles have been diverted from Murree. 

 

 In his tweet, Fawad Chaudhry wrote," According to Commissioner Murree, due to the inexhaustible sweats of the administration, the Murree Expressway has now been cleared and hundreds of vehicles have been diverted from Murree."

 

 He further wrote that there are more problems in Barian and Guldana areas. Work is underway to amend the power outage and the situation continues to ameliorate. 

 

 On the other hand, according to ISPR, Pakistan Army masterminds have restarted Jhika Gali Gharial Road while they're presently busy in continuing Jhika Gali Guldana Road. 

 

 The Pakistani service says stranded excursionists are being handed temporary accommodation and food at Army Public School Guldana.

 DSP Murree said in his videotape communication that up to four bases of snow had fallen and dozens of trees had fallen on the road. 


 

 The administration is saying that the ministry can work to some extent and we may face severe difficulties due to falling trees. 

 

 Police check posts have also been set up to help excursionists from entering Murree and Galyat. 

 

 Heavy snowfall in Galyat caused avalanches in at least two places on Friday, while three power poles also fell, making the road situation extremely dangerous. 

 

 Authorities are prompting excursionists not to turn to Murree.

 According to Galyat Development Authority spokesperson Ahsan Hameed, the snowfall on Friday was heavy. 

According to him, Galyat has entered three bases of snow in just one day, while during the alternate spell, the snowfall for four days before Friday was a aggregate of two and a partial bases which has destroyed the life system. 

 

 He said that the snowfall was so severe that not only the road clearing work was affected but also three electricity poles at the gate from Tauhidabad had fallen and all three were from the main power line. 

According to officers, WAPDA needs at least 24 hours to repair them.

 The road connecting Abbottabad to Murree has been fully blocked, making the road impenetrable. 

 

 According to Murree police, not only that, but a large number of excursionists turned to Murree on Friday.

 According to the police,the rainfall conditions aren't good at the moment and the road can not be cleared due to heavy snowfall as two bases of snow has fallen at this time.

 


 According to the police, the vehicles are slippery and numerous vehicles are situated on the road to which help is being handed, while there are fears of trees and power poles breaking.

 And the guesthouses are full of excursionists, so in such a situation when the rainfall conditions aren't good and there's no place to stay, excursionists shouldn't turn to Murree at all. 

 

 According to Ahsan Hameed, there's no space in the hospices and guest houses of Galyat and all the hospices and guest houses are full. 

He said that special backing was being handed to the excursionists who couldn't find a place at the moment or were stranded on the road as they were supposedly unsafe. 

 

' Numerous times it seems that the day is dark'

 Muhammad Abdul Hameed, a occupant of Islamabad, had started his trip beforehand in the morning to go to Galyat via Abbottabad. 

He says that when he started his trip from Abbottabad to Galyat on Murree Road, there was a lot of business and the trip which should have been completed in one hour couldn't be completed in three hours. 


He said that with this heavy snowfall has fully blocked the road and vehicles are situated on the road, while" numerous times it sounded as if it was dark during the day". 

 

 According to him, numerous people were stranded on Murree Road till 3o'clock. After threeo'clock, the snow- clearing machine drove us and other vehicles at an ant's speed near Abbottabad.
